The local boys’ school in Carndonagh (that our youngest son happens to attend) had a tired website that nobody really had a handle on how to manage.
So, as part of our commitment to the local community, we offered them a new website.
A local school in need of a website overhaul and some additional ways to easily manage content.
The local boys’ school in Carndonagh (that our youngest son happens to attend) had a tired website that nobody really had a handle on how to manage.
So, as part of our commitment to the local community, we offered them a new website.
We started by carrying out an audit of the existing website content with two of the teachers and identified what was to stay and what was to go. We also found a few opportunities to add additional content and improve ways of managing it.
The website colours are based on the school uniform colours – yellow, blue and burgundy. The website uses WordPress and we created a number of templates and custom content types (WordPress calls these Custom Post Types if you’re in that way inclined). These are used to manage the way the school newsletters are uploaded and how the staff listings are displayed. This takes any need for formatting these pages away from the teacher entering the data – keeping things simple and ensuring a consistency in the way pages are presented.
There is also an attendance figure on the home page – the icon next to it changes depending on the pupils’ attendance figure for the previous month. We like it 🙂
